Mentoring

Overview of the sessions

I’ve been an alumni mentor for Insight Data Science since May’20. I’ve talked to more than 30 professionals till now and have helped them achieve success in transitioning to a Data Science (DS) career. Reach out today, if you’d like to have a free mentoring session with me. Here is a list of possible sessions we could have depending on the preference of topics you’d like to practice,

  1. Basic stats/ ML focussed interview: This is a fairly technical session! Besides statistics questions, it also includes applied experimentation questions which are very common in DS interviews. Overall this requires broad domain knowledge of stats and ML.
  2. Probability/math: This session requires a broad understanding of basic probability, conditionals, iterated expectations, etc. This set of questions is less common in interviews so I only ask variations of the ones that I know were actually asked to me or someone else in the past.
  3. Business/ Product case studies: These are more brainstorming over ideas and features from the business and data perspective. This part is again very common in interviews! This session is overall non-technical.
  4. SQL: This session requires an easy to medium level familiarity with common SQL questions such as group by, case-when, joins, etc.
  5. Data structures and algorithms: This is fairly technical and requires a good basic level understanding of DS/algo. Leetcode is a good resource to practice! This could further branch out to several classes of problems like stack/ queue, two-pointer, linked list, tree/graph search algorithms, dynamic programming, etc. If we are able to converge on the idea, we might have time for actual coding also! Again we could modulate based on the level of familiarity with these topics and preferences.
